1. Avoid Caffeine.
Caffeine is a stimulant and increases alertness, which can lead to insomnia. It can also increase your need to urinate during the night.
2. Stop smoking tobacco.
Nicotine releases a wake-producing hormone in your body, and this potent stimulant makes it much harder to fall asleep.
3. Use alcohol cautiously.
Though alcohol initially induces sleep, the effect disappears after a few hours and you end up getting a rebound of wakefulness. This leads to poor quality sleep, and can lead you to wake up throughout the night, as well as worsen snoring and other sleep breathing problems.
